How can I search for old topics?

What are we all whining about? It’s all really easy. If you click on “About text formats” under the text box it opens a page called
“Compose Tips” where the BB Codes are given for images/video/bold text etc etc. Why do we want to do things the easy way when we could all post things in a very convoluted fashion instead?

I really don’t get what’s going on any more!

Tried that. Gave up after getting a string of gobbledygook error messages.

It’s no longer worth the effort – I can feel the cold, deadly hands of facebook reaching out to embrace me as I type this…

All that seems now to be available, if one wishes to add a post to a thread, is the text box and a post icon. Unless that’s ‘just me’, it seems that this forum has gone back to the Dark Ages!

Addendum: it appears that facilities such as hyperlinking, quoting, image uploading and others are available – but only after posting the original text and then clicking on the ‘edit’ icon!

I’ve asked the question on the mod forum. Dont know why pictures would have been removed?!

AM, image uploading vanished a few days ago along with the quote function. When or if it re-appears is anyone’s guess.
The Search function on the other hand wasn’t working the other day when this thread was started. I tried searching at that point but the results didn’t display correctly although they do now.

That’s one of the main problems – you never know what you’re going to find, or not find, when you use the forum now.

Of slightly greater significance, I’ve just realised that the image uploading facility seems to have been removed! Has anyone else found this?

If I can’t upload pictures, there’s obviously no point continuing with the “treasures” thread and that’s the end of Flypast Forum for me.

Only Tim can answer that one. What I’m pointing out is, I’ve been able to find old threads that interest me by using the forum’s own search facility which hasn’t always been the case. So, it works for me but why does it not work for Tim?

In case anyone hasn’t spotted it, you can also “shuffle” the order of posts by clicking the three headers over each column, i.e. “TOPIC”, “REPLIES” and “LAST REPLY”. It then becomes a bit of a time machine and you can go back to the earliest days of the forum (at least the bits that survived through all the various upgrades).

A bit depressing of course when you look at the post counts and recall all those valuable contributions from those who no longer post.

I find the forum’s own search function works well for me – better than it has for years in fact!

A quick search for “Hanna” produced 5,264 results. I’m using a Firefox browser and a very old operating system on a coal fired p.c. – perhaps that makes a difference?

I daresay there are alot more regulations and eyes watching now .

The forum search has been hopeless for years anyway. The last complete platform change just made it even worse.

For future reference for anybody, I found it with Google using this search – “ray hanna” site:key.aero

Even then it was on page 7.
