How do I join Airliners.net Forums?

Hi all,

I’ve recently tried to join the Airliners.net discussion forums but have had no luck.

I fill out a form and send it off. Moments later, I get an email telling me what to do – “Click here to confirm and choose payment method…” PAYMENT METHOD?! Is this not a free service?

Someone please help :p

Sorry to be rude by asking for advice on rival forums.

Yes Mongu it can, I agree. I just use it generally for local news to get info across and news. I post C.I/SW things as some people can be pretty clueless when it comes to that stuff. Always better to have a regional view 🙂 For example I just posted about the BA pull out of the SW my first post in a couple of weeks.

It can get a bit rowdy there, I have browsed it and people seem to jump down each others throat at the slightest opportunity.

Is a bit of a problem paying for it, but I think too many people were signing up and they were having to upgrade which obviously cost money.

The prints thing is interesting, basically done by photobox in the UK, photobox get there normal price and then the mark up on the print is split 50/50 between a.net and the photographer. Apparently only been 89 orders so far so its not doing too well at the moment!

Some of us were lucky to get in before they started charging you. I joined about a year ago just before they charged you. I had to email A.net telling them why I would be of value. Load of agrovation just to join a discussion board. Geezz

$5 (or £3.50) is nothing to everybody, but the thought of just having to pay to have your say is terrible.

I think Airliners.net is trying to make money out of basic things. A forum at $5 a month and photographs which you can buy? Ok, good idea, but I take it the actual photographer doesn’t get much of this (if any) money at all?

There’s only one forum for me anyhow!

i had a look at this too. $5 is nothing to me, but i am not going to pay to speak my mind on a forum. bugger that!

It used to be free to join and those who joined at the time can continue to gain access at no charge :p , but I think you have to pay for it now.
Its about 5 (£ or $) a month I think so its not very expensive but it isn’t as nice as being free.
