How do you post pictures?

The first version of this thread just disappeared. Was it something to do with the use of the word h**l? We would still like to know the answer.

Thanks for the info, but having posted the question, I found that I could reduce the size of a photo below 100KB by editing it using Paint to reduce the size of the image by 50% and then as you say saving it under another name.

There are several ways of doing this: –

You can reduce the colour depth and/or cut out the interesting parts from the photograph as a whole, and/or compress the picture into a different format (ie bitmap to jpeg).

You can do all this with tools such as Microsoft Picture Editor (free with Windows XP and, I believe it is available for most other MS Windows versions.

You can also use other tools, of course, such as Jasc’s Paint Shop Pro.

Some other operating systems, such as Linux, have similar tools included in their various distribution packages.

Essentially, you load the picture into the program (application) you wish to use – make the changes you want – and save it again – being careful to use a new filename, so that you don’t lose your original capture.

I have photos that I’ve wanted to post, but they’re all about 600KB, how do I reduce them below 100KB so that I can post them????

No, not visible in preview, but you can look if there is something in the attachfile. BW Roger

Still trying. Can you see your picture in preview mode or do you get an icon?

Cunningly lifted from the FAQ:

Adding Images

To include a picture or graphic within the body of your message, you can simply surround the address of the image as shown here:

http://www.keypublishing.com/forum/images/forum_title_img.jpg

Note that the [ url]http:// part of the image URL is required for the code.

You have to remove the space from and – I had to put them in to make it show up correctly 🙂
If you’re doing that you have to upload your images to some personal web space, but you’ll have to find out how to do that yourself 😉

They do that from their website/space or so. For “normal” people this is almost inpossible, so unless you know this technique (I don’t), you have to post them one by one. BW Roger

After typing your text, you scroll down on that same page. You go to attach file, and hit the blue field. Now you can look at your harddisk and search for the pic. Then you open de pic, it is loaded in the message, and you submit your message. It must be smaller than 100 kb. BW Roger
