How does J-8II compare to Mig-23?

How do these 2 series of aircraft compare to each other?

both designs were from similar era 70s, both are used for AoA operations mainly. J-8II is the first “heavy” fighter for PLAAF and Mig23 is the first “heavy” fighter from MIG. The difference is J-8II is optimised for high speed high alt intercept, while Mig23s were designed to perform in both high and low speed & alt with swing wing design.

Avionics wise, both went through several upgraded versions, and are capable of BVR engagement with SARH missiles. Both have limited AoG capabilities, but are not excercised with success.

So need some professional opinions please (I know India operates Mig27s which is a derivative of Mig23, but not intended to compare with that at all)
