Well Heathrow has clinched the new UK record for the hottest temp ever recorded in the UK at, 37.4.
Well where I am, in Sutton, Surrey, about 20 miles south of LHR the Themometers in my Garden are reading 39 degrees, as was the towns thermometer, when I went out this afternoon.
So therefore LHR is not as hot as other places in the south east.
So how hot is it where you are?

I’m in Florida at the moment and it’s in the high 30’s but everywhere has air conditioning so i’m glad i’m here and not in the UK.

Ive just spent most of this week in Bahrain, and to put it in perspective…. when I got out of the terminal at 0645 it was already 92*f! ….. and it got much hotter during the day but as I was sunbathing I didnt have a thermometer.

When I heard on the radio that the UK heat record had been broken I looked at the thermometer on the dash board of my car and had to laugh.
17 degrees C.
That is what it was on Sunday afternoon in Cornwall – it was hotter than that at night!
Currently in the north wing of Maison Flood the temp inside and out is 25.5C, the sun is out and a neighbour is sunbathing – ugh! (Think well matured beached whale in a bikini, but it stops me looking outside!)

Saturday afternoon my greenhouse thermometer went off its scale and thats 50C!, I moved it out side in the shade and it settled at 36/37 C, pretty hot, mind you it was still reading 30C at midnight and 24C at 4am, unless my eyes were deceiving me, and that was quite possible that night/morning.:)

It’s been a fairly cool summer here up until about mid-July when it started getting hot, and of course August is never much fun.
I’d say our average temperature here in the southeast portion of the United States is probably between 85 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit (pardon the temp. measurement….I’ve forgotten the conversion formula off the top of my head).
It’s always very humid here, and that just makes things that much worse. You come inside feeling sticky and just generally nasty.
For comparison I just got back from an Air Force ROTC summer program at Altus AFB in Oklahoma, and the temperature while I was there was always at least 105 degrees Fahreinheit during the day, although there was little to no humidity so you didn’t really sweat a whole lot. Keeping hydrated is very important though as often you don’t realized you are dehydrated until it is too late.
I’m certain you Euro-chaps aren’t used to weather quite that hot.

My brand spanking new “Weather Station” wall clock is reading about 35C with humidity at about 62%. Bearing in mind that is indoors though, I would guess the temperature is much the same outside at the moment. 😎

35C average.
Other places I’ve lived:
Israel: HOT.
Europe: OH NO!
New York: Cool and rainy.

Well on the thermometer in my garden it got up to 40 degrees in the shade, and 45 in the direct line of the sun, in the end today.
But Gravesend got the highest temp in the end. 38.1.

Scorchio!
Very intense kind of heat though – i’ve been in higher teperatures abroad with less ‘hotness’ – the UK, when it’s hot, it feels really hot.

In Vale, Guernsey the thermometer was reading around 32 in my garden. A bit cooler today because of a nice sea breeze. Yesterday official temperatures reached a very nice 34.3C, our highest temperature ever.
