Hi All,
I’m a frequent visitor but rare ‘poster’.
This is a great web forum for those with a passion for aviation and I have noted a number of fellow Australians posting. I was wondering how many we numbered?
(By the way, I am standing by for the inevitable references to the World Cup and Jonny Wilkinson.;) )
Cheers

Hi Folks,
Been watching this thread for a few months now, so here goes, this is me ….

Hi Gents
I’m another Melbournite and a ‘newbie’ to the forum. My interests are all things Whirlwind (the twin not the mix master!) Any info on the Whirlwind and the aussies/kiwis who flew/served with 137 & 263 Sqns would be much appreciated.
Catching up with some of you at an airshow sounds like a great idea! Count me in.

Canberra
Add another to the collection, based in Canberra.
Get to Temora at least a couple of times each year, usually try and get to some other aviation sites for some research, photography or flying as opportunity presents itself.

With reference to Proctors, I spoke to Ken Beard earlier this week, as you likely know, he restored VH-AUC. He mentioned that it took him 9 years. I got the last of his Proctor bits and pieces, just a couple of items. Ken is well underway building what looks like a 1/4 scale Proctor Mk1.

for dustyone,
we have Proctor VH-AUC at Moorabbin, while VH-DUL is under airworthy restoration elsewhere on the airfield, and a friend of mine in Queensland has the remains of Vega Gull II VH-ACA formerly owned by Lord Casey, for hopefuly long term airworthy restoration.

Hi again All,
Thanks for the posts.
Based on the replies, I think there is definite merit in an “Aussie Contingent” get together in the New Year. Victoria, or possibly Temora, might fit the bill. Anyway, let’s stay in touch by PM and see what we can work out.
In my post I ommitted to state my location. I’m in Bowral NSW, a bit over an hour south-west of Sydney.

Grat to see the responses!
Well someone had better wave the Sydney flag!
I used to be active with HARS but have not been able to the last few years.
Surely I’m not the only member on the forum from Sydney??
A meet up somewhere whould be great.
Cheers

And one from Albury, NSW.
Looks like the DC-2 here is up for sale(?). Can you believe 1 vote saved it from being sawn up with a couple bits stuck to a wall as a “Contemporary Display” at the airport? Anyone got a lazy $300k?
Can’t believe that, mind you local govt in Albury are hopeless:confused:

From the land down under, the ‘Apple Isle’ the place of fine wines, outstanding food and fare, where we are all suposed to have two heads so we are twice as smart. Not to say we do not have fine aircraft as well.

Originally from Coffs Harbour. Moved to Canada about 11 years ago to follow a cute Canadian girl.
I took my Canadian to Australia, decided that too hot was better than too cold. 😉
