Just wondering how many companies have signed on for the A390 Super Airbus, who will be the launch costomer?
As far as I’ve heard, three companies are interested (Qantas, Emeriates and Gulf Air)

Airbus are cutting the first metal for the A380 next month apparently at the Toulouse plant.

RE: How many companies have signed on?
Well it’s a start isn’t it….
The board of directors did give it’s OK to the project and it should fly in 2005 and delivered in 2006. I suspect it’s going to be build in Toulouse but I’m not sure, does anybody know?

RE: How many companies have signed on?
I tdoes Dutchy thanks, this is going to be huge. Those figures are slightly down though, from what I heard, Airbus can’t make it happen unless they get orders for at least 200, any comments?

I know Qantas is getting some 747-400 LR later this year or early next year and they are looking at doing sydney to dallas nonstop, you wont get me on that flight. From what i have heard about the race to London with Emirates and Sia with the A380 from management in Dubai is that it depends on delivery and some other factors but have no made a firm commitment to it yet.

Emirates have ordered 22 (2 Cargo) and options on another 10.

RE: How many companies have signed on?
Singapore, Virgin, Emirates, Air France, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, Fed Ex have ordered the cargo version I think. Don’t know about Qantas.
Singapore and Emirates will share the first flight. Apparently They will both head to London Heathrow (SQ from Singapore and EK from Dubai). The Singapore Airlines flight will take off first but the Emirates one will land first, or so I have read.

Not such an aircraft as the boeing 747-600,you ar probably thinking of the 747-500 which was scrapped in fvour of the new sonic cruiser.

RE: How many companies have signed on?
First of all….its the Airbus 380 not 390. Qantas showed interest but hasnt ordered them with no plans to order them in future as well. Emirates has the A380 on firm order(not sure how many). No way….Gulf Air aint getin the A380. I am also not sure about Air France and Lufthans. Does Virgin also have the shortlisted???
