Hi all
The web picture is cropped:
My question is what is the squadron and how many aircraft are lined up?
In the newspaper I can count 22 +/- 3!
Cheers

Thanks MarkG
What would have been the typical squadron strength then?
By: Red Hunter - 31st March 2025 at 11:45
Typical Hunter Squadron strength at this time was about 16 aircraft. This is why when 111-Sqn did the 22 aircraft loop they had to borrow some aircraft and pilots. 257-Sqn chequers were green and yellow with a ‘beastie’ in the centre. Happy days.

Farnborough 1958 – The black Arrows plus 6. Never to be forgotten. Has it ever been bettered? Is there any film of it?

‘2nd August 1957. RAF Hunter F6 XE586 263 Sqn Crashed onto Tuddenham Avenue, Ipswich, Suffolk after the pilot had failed to recover the aircraft from a spin.
Flg. Off C. G. Reith ejected safely’.

257 and 263 were at Whatashame at the time. This pic was posed for the press with aircraft from both squadrons.
Standard FC squadron establishment at the time was 16 aircraft and 20 pilots, plus 20 navs in the case of an NF sqdn.

The ‘beastie’ being a Chinthe owing to the squadron’s Burma connection.
