Another thread has made me ponder just how many are involved based in the uk in preservation of aircraft and I include paid ,unpaid ?
We are on the inside looking out and I am getting an increasing feeling that the numbers are small when compared to steam railways, vintage cars, tractors etc.
I would say it was no more than 2,000 actually in workshops, museums and private owners.of vintage aircraft.
I ask the question because recently I have been getting so little response to the idea of a Maritime museum at Kinloss, and now feel that the general public just are not aviation heritage minded any more and we are very much a niche interest?? Not so much about watching shows and reading magazines but actually being involved.
