I wonder how many of the eight-gun Hurris will ‘star’ in The Few 😉

At the risk of repetition here is my list of airworthy Hurricanes (in no particular order):

LF363 – BBMF, UK
PZ865 – BBMF, UK
Sea Hurricane – Shuttleworth Collection, UK
Black Hurricane – RAeC, Breighton UK
KZ321 – TFC, Duxford UK
Former TFC Mk XII – HAC, Duxford UK (O.K. Maybe, more than 30 days before this one flys – but what the hell!)
Former Neil Rose Mk XII – Fighter Factory, Suffolk Virginia, USA
AE977 – Tom Friedkin, Chino Ca, USA
Alpine Fighter Collection, Wanaka, NZ
Former Mk XII G-ORGI (ex David Price) Ed Russell, Niagra, Canada

Most Hurris I’ve seen fly together is four at DX.

There were only three for the Battle of Britain film. Pror to that, the most was the Portugese machines used in Angels One Five, not sure of Nos, but 1/2 doz? Very poor. If you count all the airworthy Hawkers vs Spitfires it’s even worse!

Thank god for the BBMF.

Anyone know where we can get 48 airworthy Hurricanes from in time for legends 04

BBMF have two; Historic Aircraft Collection, Fighter Collection, Shuttleworth and Real Aeroplane Co all have one each. There’s six for starters!

Actually, as much as I love the good ol’ Spit, I reckon more should be done in the way of anniversaries for the Hurricane. Was there a Hurricane 60th? No.

How many Spitfire 60ths? Two – 1996 and 1998.

DHFan,
I think you are right. Certainly if you got a lecture on it! Nice scheme either way. IIIRC, the only warbird with a P in a ring except the awaited MB-5 replica in the states…
Cheers

IIRC, it was the prototype MkXIV scheme. I argued with the guide at Coningsby when he said it was a MkXVI scheme. He dragged me into the office after the tour finished and found I was right.
Unless there were two similar, of course.

Yes Daz, like I said: June 1990! The show was called ‘Battle of Britain Salute’.
