How nice of easyJet….

A few months ago I started a thread on a young pilot called Daniel Swaddle: http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=28489. I was reading the Evening Chronicle later today when I read this article. How nice of easyJet to do such a thing….. 🙂

Airline tribute to tragic young pilot Sep 25 2004

An airline is to pay tribute to a young pilot’s dream to fly a jumbo jet by naming a plane after him.

The easyJet airline company has contacted the family of Daniel Swaddle through his school, St Benet Biscop High School in Bedlington.

One of Britain’s youngest pilots, Daniel, of Blyth, died from a brain tumour at 17, but had already made a big impression on members of Newcastle Aero Club, where he gained his wings.

The club is planning to name his favourite Cessna plane after him and now easyJet has said it would like to look into naming one of its fleet after him.

Daniel, of Trevelyan Avenue, Blyth, started flying gliders at 11. At 16 he became of the youngest people in the country to earn his wings.

He passed his piloting exams for his full licence while a sixth-former at St Benet Biscop High School in Bedlington, and had won his licence by his 17th birthday on April 16.

His big ambition was to be the pilot of a jumbo jet and he intended to apply to get in to the easyJet training programme.

Sandy.

That is fantastic. I suggest you send it on to Easyjet as soon as possible.

Well done to Easyjet for considering bestowing such an honour.

thank you 🙂

Normally I would, but the fact that this press statement has been released it would indicate the matter is already in hand.
