When I was 2 months old – Sofia-Varna and some weeks later Varna-Sofia. It has been a Tu-134. But as you can quess I can’t remember anything. After that, when I was 14 years old I flew LZ-BOF, Balkan airlines Boeing 737-300 from Sofia to Frankfurt.

Interesting concept to declare an airline your favourite not having flown them. By that token, I will declare Virgin Atlantic my favourite airline since I have not flown them. Any airline with a sit-down bar in the upper class cabin where I can throw down a few scotch’s and mingle has to be my favourite.

Between ’51 & ’53 various flights in Anson, Rapide & highly illegal trip in Chipmunk on Dads knee + & here memory is dodgy definetely taxiing in a Meteor T 6/7 possibly a flight???

Dad was RAuxAF ATCO (yes he knew the rules) & also ATCO at Usworth – Airwork run RAF Flying school

First regular passenger flight – BOAC DC4M Argonaut June ’54

LHR – Rome – Benghazi – Cairo – Khartoum – Entebbe – Nairobi
(RAF Eastleigh) – > 24 hours including some meals on ground

Worst flight was (upto last year) a Pelita (?) BN2 Islander with port engine failure on take off from Balikpappan, but July last year had dubious pleasure of a SudanAir An-24 flight – 2 days after they (SudanAir aka Inshallah Airways) had lost a B737-200, on which I should have been a Px on its ‘penultimate flight’

Still shaking!!!

Hey! This is what this forum is really about. Every new member should be directed to this thread 😉

First trip 1968? SAS Convair Metropolitan, EKKA to EKCH, return by Caravelle (like Kenneth). Those Pratt & Whitney R 2800 really rattled the windows on take off! 😮

Next Ka 7 glider – that seemed fragile! Never went solo on the Ka 8.

Dazda & Kev: Chipmunk. Shades of Battle of Britain waddling around with those back pack “Irvin”-chutes. First solo on P-124 – in the US now. Those were the days!

Best regards

I was 5 years old, Air Uk Leisure 767 from Gatwick to Orlando with a 25 hour delay (something wrong with the windshield wiper).

Since then I have had 54 flights, 48 of them commercial. This will soon be made to 60 flights once I have finished my trek to Borneo in May! 😀

Wysi, I know what you mean about the AEF videos! I weny flying on Saturday with them for about the 4th time, but of course now we use the Grob Tutors instead. I like the way that when they simulate climbing out of the plane in an emergency, the canopy just magicly lifts of the plane, then just disappears off the back of the screen! I thought there’d be lots of people on here that go to ATC, are there? And the parachutes aswell, they really hurt! We look like troops of penguins marching across the tarmac towards the planes wearing those!:D

Less than one year in an SAS Caravelle Copenhagen <-> London (so I’m told). First flight in a GA aircraft at approx. 4 years (my Dad’s Piper Colt). First solo flight at the age of 28 in a Bölkow Monsun. Have flown in 50 different aircraft types by now.

6 years old from NCL – CFU on a CKT 752 in 1991 – a really classy airline!!!

loved the tartan uniforms, the seats and the service. the livery was really cool too, can anyone tell me whether or not the CKT livery was really meant to be a BA Landor off-shoot!?!?

cheers,

LGKR

My first flight was just coming up to my first birthday in November 1953. We went Dublin to London and London to Kano.
I dont know what the Dublin flight would have been – probably a DC 3 and I think the Flight to Kano would have been a BOAC Stratocruiser. I have the Reg and siganture of the captain in my BOAC Junior Jet Club Log Book at home.

That is Gatwick and the pier in the background is the Central pier
(vastly different to what it looks like now) This shot gives you a good idea of what it was like to be able to walk out on top of the piers to look at the aircraft and just near to where this picture was taken on top of the Left pier was a cafe with a walkway to it off the top of the pier for spotters and sightseers.

good luck for tonight, Portugal. Hope you tear them to rags, especially up the right side, and rub it right up Sven that he snubbed Ing-ur-lund’s best leftsided midfield player (and a striker who’s better than Heskey, for that matter… but then, I know 70 year olds who’re more effective than Heskey).

Britannia, I stayed in Cala’n Porter last year at the Siestamar Apartments. I would never go back again!! I sliced my foot open on a broken tile in the pool, and was on crutches for 3/4 of the holiday!! And the day before we were supposed to go, there was a big gas explosion involoving my dad, he had 1st degree burns and all of his hair had gone on his belly!!  😡
I first flew when I was 2 months old from Newcastle to Malta with Dan Air on 727 or 737 can’t remember which one?
