I think those trees on top of that hill beneath the approach could do with a trim….

If you’re up there willing an aeroplane to land, you should really be starting to think about going around!

And just how do you “get her down”??? Once over the runway in the landing configuration with the power fully retarded, there’s not that much can be done to MAKE a plane land if the approach is hot or high, well at least not without risking bending the aeroplane…

Im not questioning the phsyics of flight Andy. My post reflected the fact that as i watched the video i was willing the aircraft down, as i suspect the pilot flying will have been doing also.

I was thinking, come on, get her down, get her down, get her down…Go around Go around, NO WAY dont land. Now im no pilot but that had to be very, very close. Maybe more luck than judgement?

The aircraft looks like it’s shuddering violently while slowing down. Possibly a sign he’s hammering the crap out of the brakes and reverse thrust? It looks like the turn to the left is very sudden as well… Maybe done to avoid losing his front wheel off the tarmac?!

Maybe it was his best attempt – just imagine what the others might have been like!

Thanks GA, I missed that one somewhere along the line.

Peter: I’ve often watched the Russians pouring water on their brakes from a 2 liter bottle so that they can depart sooner than their brake cooling schedule allows, it seems to be standard practice!

And what do they advertise underneath? FLY TO ST BARTS! If anyone watching that ever wants to fly again, I’ll eat my sweatsock.

BTW I can imagine why the AA 737 overran at Kingston, add to that a wet runway.
