How realisitic was this 1970s British WW2 show?

What do you think of this Lancaster RAF Tv series – http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=oH6SBD_zzsI&feature=endscreen

Definitely distracting and sweet, to boot. Her sister Sally was equally so….

she is a tad distracting!

She was quite distracting in Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush, very distracting in Three Into Two Won’t Go and though it was possibly the most awful film of all times distracted me to bits in Inseminoid

re;

To be fair, there aren’t many TV series from that era which have stood the test of time.

Dr Who, Children of The Stones, The Sweeney – all pretty popular

Try watching the whole series, they start to get quite addictive. Secret Army still wins my vote though!

I watched the whole fifty odd minutes.
It was wrong in so many ways but I just had to.
The Central Band of The Royal Air Force used to play the theme music composed by Malcolm Lockyer sometimes.
Best part of the whole thing if you ask me.

Hmmm. I stand to be corrected thanks for that. But what do you make of the big engine cowlings over the wings?. Oh and the rudders look more like Liberator or something, in the film.

It’s UPSIDEDOWN:rolleyes:

The “Danger UXB” Series was much more realistic made around the same time in the 1970’s.

The wrecked ‘Lanc’ in the show is an up-turned Shackleton painted black with a few Lancasteresque extras, I think part of the plot (yeah ok lol) was that the aircraft flipped over on landing.

Just thought. The Lanc in flight had Merlins, when it crash landed it had Radials. Must have been a mid air transfer. Oh and the UXB. Bomb door on top of the Fuselage?

Despite the fact that Hamish Mahaddie was involved with the production, perhaps the kindest thing to be said about the series is that it hasn’t stood the test of time.

It was low-budget, and it shows.

I only have a vague recollection of the series on TV.
I imagine I thought it was great at the time ? 🙂
