How should a WW2 RAF crash site be reported?

Hello Chaps,

A colleague on another forum has come across an aircraft crash site that consists of numerous pieces of surface wreckage, on the Franco-Belgian border. The aircraft concerned appears to be a Blenheim IV, and a serial number has been found on a piece of wreckage that seems to confirm this. It indicates that the aircraft is officially listed as missing on operations, as are the crew of three who are commemorated on the Runnymede memorial.

Assuming that the authorities here may need informing, what is the best and/or correct way of going about this, as there may be relatives who need informing or other actions to be initiated by the powers that be.

Thanks for any help.

Regards, Ned.

Indeed Kev,

That is maybe a more accurate comment than mine.

You may be surprised by just how many people think of these things. They just don’t neccesarily broadcast it here.

It’s comforting to see that there are those who take the trouble to think about such things.

Ned,

I think forum member here Tangmere 1940 (AKA Andy Saunders) is the person you want to talk to. I would email him via his website rather than PM him as the fullness of his PM box is legendary.

Good luck!

Adrian
