How So Little Can Mean So Much To An Aviation Fan…

Im so happy. I like to know the reggie of every aircraft I have travelled on over the years but a few have evaded me. In 1997 I travelled MAN-LCA-MAN with Britannia but the outbound flight was operated by an Air Europa 757. Now I have some really dodgy pictures of these flights, (The Air Europa shot been just about head on and the Britannia shot been very blurred).

So I decided to get a magnifying glass out, and I was amazed to see that if I focused hard on the Britannia shot I could just about make out the letters ‘AW’ meaning I had flown G-BYAW. I was so happy at finding this out, so I had a go with the Air Europa shot. I had never noticed before, but the Air Europa has a name very near the nose. So I had a look on airliners.net to see which were named. Two were named, but one of the names was in bold (The name on mine wasnt), which meant it could have only been one other. EC-FEE (Catalunya.), which is now flying for Skyservice as C-GMYH.

Now I only am missing the reggies of 3 of my flights… (Wish I knew them!)

God, I am so happy! (Yes I know I’m Sad……….)

Heres a pic of Cataluyna herself to celebrate 😀

Glad that this has struck a chord with people.

Is so annoying that out of 30 flights I have taken, I am only missing three. Will probably never get to find these out, The flights been MAN-PMI-MAN in 1994. The outbound been on a 752 and inbound a 752, and LCA-MAN in 1996 which was a Britannia 752.

So I have flown…. G-MONZ (Twice), G-BYAG, EC-FEE, G-BYAW, TF-ABU, G-OJMR, EI-TLO (Twice), G-VMED, G-VTAN, G-BYNB (FOUR times!), G-RJGR, G-JMAB, G-CDUP, G-BYAI, G-CELU, G-CELV, EI-CJE, EI-CNX, G-CELS (Twice), G-OOOG and G-CPEU.

Anyone else flown on any of these?

I’ve taken 245 individual flights up to now, and have the reggies of them all bar the first 9. Worst of all, two of those are on Air Canada DC-8-60s in 1980 which I would dearly love to tie up. Flights were BFS-PIK-YYZ on 20/09/80, and YYZ-BFS on 10/10/80 if anyone can help ?

Incidentally of those 245 flights, 22 included either a visit to the flightdeck during the flight, or a jumpseat for the takeoff or landing, or the whole flight. Jumpseating on a 747 into Chicago O’Hare and frequently into Heathrow on 737s and A320s really was enjoyable. Unfortunately now a thing of the past. 😡

Good topic; I always like to know exactly which a/c I’m flying on. There are some good acars websites that should be able to advise a/c used. Scheduled flights seem much easier to trace than charters though.

got any links… I’d love to find out what beech1900D I flew when I went to Nassau

I like Air Europa because it was initialy an offshoot of the great Air Europe and I liked them enourmously. I never have taken note of the registration numbers of the aircraft I flew but I do remember some of the ‘names’ given to the aircraft.

I remember flying on Air Europe 732s in the 80s, one was named ‘Adam’ and one was named ‘Peggy’

Yep I have to agree with you there. Was glad when I managed to get some archive movements and find out the reg’s of my Delta flights back in 2002. Discovered my MD-11 was N813DE, the only one to make it into the newest scheme.

I’m trying to find reg’s (and probably never will) for the following flights:

I could give more exact dates if I looked into certain relative’s diary’s, but I’m doubtful that I’ll be able find the reg’s even with that.

Lufthansa A321 STN-FRA Easter 2000
CSA 735 FRA-PRG Easter 2000
CSA 734 PRG-FRA Easter 2000
Lufthansa A320 FRA-STN Easter 2000

Go 737 STN-PRG-STN August 2001

Always nice to find that out, I’ve only ever been able to discover my BA 757s to CDG.

If anyone knows how to trace GO regs from 2002, BA regs from 1990, or British International regs from 1997 give me a shout PLEASE 😀
