Hello all,
First of all let me say I’ve been watching some of the treads on here of recent times about cockpits etc.
I’ve now decided I’d like to have a go at this cockpit thing, problem is here in Australia cockpits of for example a canberra are nonexistent. (they are all in museums) I realise about freight etc from overseas, however there seem to be a lot of cockpits in the UK and Europe, is anyone able to steer me in the right direction? I don’t have bucket loads of cash but maybe there is something in my budget out there?
Any help would be great
Dave

Another Aussie looking for a project
Hi All,
Long time reader, first time poster 🙂
I am also looking for a suitable cockpit project, but being in sunny north queensland means that I might have to settle for re-constructing rather than purchasing.
I have looked at the GJD Canberra PR9 shell, and am waiting to hear about a Canberra TT they have.
If anybody hears of something, please let me know.

Bex,
The cockpit is pretty much complete with bang seat, HUD, stick, throttles, moving map and nearly all instruments. I will have to make a detailed examination when it arrives but the things I know are missing are pads and straps from the seat, radios, emergency compass and a couple of things I think are part of the attack computer. I would really love some sort of document to tell me what everything in the cockpit actually is so if anyone out there has some jag gr1 info please let me know.

Paul, any ideas how much work you will have on the cockpit interior? Bex

David
yes, a poor choice of words, perhaps “reconstruction” cockpits is a better term to cover the full spectrum of those being undertaken.
in any case, your efforts still demonstrate what can be achieved.

correction.
“a mockup cockpit can be created? similar to dcollins Hornet and other efforts here”
…..Mark, yes someone could make a mock-up, or a correctly made cockpit similar to dcollins Hornet! 😉

Hi Dave
I have also recently been looking for a cockpit, what is your budget? I have seen everything from a $250 Wirraway cockpit (if you could call it that) up to tens of thousands of dollars. I think you would need to spend at least AUD10,000 to get something decent/complete into Australia because the shipping is so high.
Cheers
Paul
Paul,
I’ll be honest $10 grand is more than I can afford!! I’m not that wealthy! $250 for a Wirraway? where? Is it still avilable? Yeah I agree on the cost think here in OZ it sucks huh? Oh well maybe someone or something will turn a cockpit up one day!
