Thanks BLR great pics. OK to eventually put them up on site? Whatever its faults seeing the pictures of were they started from helps show the magnitude of what they have achieved so far.

Interesting to note that last June (2005) the wreckage of RCAF Canso 9701 which crashed Feb 12 1945 was found in the same area that the CMF Hampden was pulled out of. The Canadian Coast Guard vessel CCGS John P Tully came across it with a submersible while doing some scientific work.

It was mangled, twisted & in terrble shape.

A few shots I took in August 1986.

An amazing transformation and all credit to the Canadians for both the Hampden and Halifax.

I think the only straight part was a portion of the rear fuse.

True the interior is gutted. I was told they where saving the furbishing of the interior when they will be in a position to store it inside.

As for the engines………well they could not procure them at an “affordable” price for the museum. Hence the replicas.

I guess if someone would give them 2 peggy’s they would gladly fit them to the bird.

Beautiful aircraft awful paintjob (especially the interior green), but a magnificent achievement anyway. Top marks for bringing back the Hampden.
Would make a nice example for East Kirkby and the RAF Museum to follow on.
Give them all the help they can.

The Langley machine is a great rebuild effort, and I tip my hat to them, but isn’t 100% accurate – The wooden engines for instance. I’ve got some piccies somewhere, but I’m a bit busy now to dig them out.
