In C F Rawnsley’s and Robert Wright’s excellent book Night Fighter Rawnsley mentions that the HQ of 81 Group Fighter Command was at one time (1942) in the Cotswold village of Avening in an old manor house. Aston Down was the local airfield.(Chapter 16)
I have not been able to find any other mention of this anywhere,is there any Official Secret reason why this should be so ?
Maybe my searching has not been thorough enough, can anyone help? Jerry
