The Belfast is closer to Manchester…:) and likely the closest thing in the UK to a late 19th century battleship or cruiser.

I wonder what they’d do if they put on Madam Butterfly? Borrow the HMS Belfast?

Didn’t know she was a USN ship…….

so go to all the effort of finding a Huey for the publicity, don’t go the extra mile to uniform the cast?

But taking your post to it’s logical conclusion why bother painting the aircraft in ‘Memphis Bell’ in correct for period colours as it’s really a film about comradeship etc?

I hate to sound pedantic but if its accuracy you’re after then Miss Saigon is a musical and not an opera anyway!

I’ve never expected much historical correctness from an opera…

I wonder what they’d do if they put on Madam Butterfly? Borrow the HMS Belfast?

Meanwhile, I’m busy writing Battle of Britain…The Musical”.
I hope to do for it what Andrew Lloyd Webber did for Argentinean dictators.

I know, I know, I’m a spotter – but the ‘soldier actors’ look totally ‘ungruntlike’ – US repro Vietnam kit isn’t that expensive and there are plenty of period films/photos doing the rounds to get the look right.
