Found another one.
Been tracking down surviving birds from the 129th for a while. One that has proved to be a bit elusive was the one that was supposed to be closest to where I live, as in about 20 miles away.
Last month me & a friend from the 129th did a bit of poking about on the way back from Mojave. Spotted one through a fence & screeched to a halt to investigate. Couldn’t get close enough to see any #’s on it, but the location & damage I could see matched the last report on the bird back in 2000.
Yesterday I did another drive by, place still deserted.
Today I pull it up on Zillow to get the actual street address. The map feature listed a company name.
I look up the company & it gives me the name of the owner. I look him up & it gives me an address about 4 miles from me.
I drive over there to find another yard, but this one looks like it’s owned by a collector of “stuff I can’t live without”, All sorts of vintage tractors, trailers, dozers etc.
No one there. I go the tow yard next door & ask if they know when the guy might be around.
They gave me his phone #. Called the guy up & he said he should be out there “some day next week”. Got to call him again on Saturday.

This is what I saw through the fence as we went past at about 60mph last month…
