Looks like OSH was not being so pessismistic after all.

Pessimistic or not,I made the 900 mile trip! If I was pessimistic, what do you call the guys who live within 50 miles who were leaving the decision to the last minute? I don’t think it was me who was pessimistic! I was merely concerned about putting all that time and expense to waste. I was a little disappointed, but enthusiasm was not dampened, just me!

Aha. So Man-on-the-fence has now become Man-inverted-over-Kansas. You look like you’re hating every single minute of it… 😉

Dunno, could be Australia (thats what the locals think I sound like anyway)
Weather 87 degrees and sunny, thunderstorms overnight.

The inflight catering on Air Patterson is lousy though. 🙂

PS No Gloves or Barf Bags were hurt bringing you these photos.

I fully intended to go but the weather was just not nice. Yesterday was pants all day and today I managed to get one circuit but there was a lot of nastiness coming in from the west.

No point in doing anything silly and I had to be out today by 3pm so didn’t make it.

Shame as it sounded good and there were a couple of people I would have liked to have caught up with.

Was ‘Primrose’ up against ‘Baltic Bear’

Yep. It was a very close call, but we think we just piped them to the shortest distance from brakes off to wheels leaving the ground. The AN2 stood no chance in the climb though 😀

Sounds like it was a great weekend, I’m gutted to have missed it..

(although with my university final assesments on Tuesday, one more weekend sketching diagrams of ekranoplans was probably a wise choice! Only a couple of weeks and I am thrown out into the real world, if you can call Air Atlantique the real world… it’s far better than that 😉 )

…Colerne next year should be brilliant.

Was ‘Primrose’ up against ‘Baltic Bear’ , whilst I love Antanovs (see avatar), they have no chance against an enthusiastic Twin Pin! And I thought my suggestion for a Scottish Aviation/Antanov formation display team had fallen on deaf ears…. just need to think for a name for it!

PS It was just as wet in Coventry!

That short-take off contest was won hands-down by the Twin-Pin, off and clawing its way up steeply while the AN2 was still running on its mains. Excellent to see, and hear.

Last night, at bed-time, the AN2 owner ran up the engine for 20 mins to make it nice and cosy inside. Unfortunately, he forgot his chum’s tent, which was staked out behind the a/c, and got shredded by the propwash! So they all had to sleep in the AN2.

Air Atlantique were the stars of the event, bringing real interest and head-turning presence to both days, but great to see both airworthy Pembrokes parked together.
Today’s turnout was actually pretty respectable, though the normal multitude of Miles’ was down to just the Belgiun registered Gemini. Peter Holloway WAS there, bu sans aeroplanes, as far as I could see. On Sat evening, the ATC glider school pulled out their Sedburgh, and were winch launching it- real nostalgia.

Hullavington is a lovely airfield, and certainly deserves another event like this. Apart from Abingdon, most events so far seem to have been hit by inclement weather.

and just a few more……
The arrival of Air Atlantiques Dak, Pembroke and Anson in formation during the morning was a nice touch – thanks guys. Pity my photo of it was three dark outlines against a grey sky!
Thanks also to everyone else who ventured through the weather. This was my first G-VFWE, and although I hear it was well down on previous years, I still enjoyed it 🙂

I was at Coventry when they all arrived back and they were in formation then and were allowed to do a run and break before landing ,very crisp!Well done guys.

I’m cold and still slightly damp after that, but it was fun! Anyone else here see the Twin Pin V AN2 take off “challange” 😀

Just downloading the pics now, will post the best later.

Atlantic1
….and very nice it looked as well, and the subsequent fly-by!!!!
Could that be the first time the two types have ever flown in formation???????

BTW…nice formation fly-bys on departure too….Well done to all at A.A for continuing to operate these beauties

Just got back from Hullavington and it was a bit touch and go dodging the showers. The Brize Radar controller was excellent and allowed me to cut the corner to avoid one very heavy shower which was on my direct path. A shame for the organisers but it was good to meet up with some chums and it was a new airfield in the logbook. I was in the only Airtourer today although I believe 3 of the others turned up yesterday.
