As a kid I used to travel by train from Newport to Reading to visit ‘rellies’. The railway line used to pass to the north of an RAF Station about halfway on the journey. Courtesy of Multimap I am almost certain it was Hullavington. I recollect twin engined tailwheel aircraft in (I think) a silver colour scheme. We are talking about early to mid-fifties here. Could they have possibly been Wellington nav trainers or had they gone by then? Memory fuzzy but not convinced they were Valettas.
Standing by for the wisdom and knowledge of the gurus out there!

From Action Stations No 5
replaced by Number 1 Air Navigation School which moved in from Topcliffe with Anson T21 and Wellington T10 – later replaced by Valettas, Varsities and Marathon T11.
The ANS was disbanded in July 1954 …. Its replacement at Hullavington was 2 FTS …. using Provost T1 for elementary training.
Varsities returned in 1957 when the Air Electronics School replaced 2 FTS, but it moved to Topcliffe in 1962
Any help?
