As many know, we are planning a Hunter line up for the CockpitFest 2008 at Newark Air Museum. The object will be to get as many Hunter cockpits lined up in Mk order as possible.
So far we have:-
F1 – Tony Collins
F1 – Tony Dyer
F2 – Tony Dyer
F4 – Mark Templeman
F4 – Possible ?
F5 – Mike Rolfe
F6 – Black arrows
F6 – R Archer?
FGA9 – Bill Fern
FGA9 – Garry O’Keefe
GA11 – Naylan Moore
GA11 – David Webb
T7 – Doncaster
QA – Mark Gauntlett
I know other people have pledged Hunters (at least another F6). I would like to use this thread to add to the list and see if we can get the number up.
I would also like to encourage people with Hunter exhibits to come as well (ejection seats, models, photos, parts, instrument panels) so that we can get a good tribute to this great aircraft.
If people could get potted histories including recent restorative history and photos to me on their projects, I will endeavour to get a small info sheet we can give away to the public. Please contact me through my website email.
With this info, we can get arrangements together with NAM to make it a success
We may also have T shirts etc if people are interested.
Regards
Tony

You get into trouble!
Whatever next?

Rocketeer,
The news section of the museum website www.newarkairmuseum.org is carrying a similar message.

The observant will have seen that the ‘Hunter Gathering’ at CockpitFest 2008 details are on the NAM website. However, I have been hearing rumbles from other cockpit owners that they feel it is overshadowing the event and that other types of aircraft are not welcome- this could not be further from the truth. One of the themes of CockpitFest in 2008 will be the Hunter Gathering, all other aircraft cockpits and displays are clearly welcome too!! Please make sure our fellow cockpiteers know this if you can!
Cheers Tony

Sounds great guys…..obviously all cockpits are welcome…it is just that Cockpitfest has special themes every now and then and now is the time to try and do Hunters.
Mark T you are being counted upon…no pressure!!!!
Mark G I posted late at night!!
Please help us get more so that we can provide a great display to celebrate this great aircraft and also allow modeller and afficionados (wow what a word!) to photo/see cockpit differences!
Once I have a reasonably definitive list, I shall contact NAM so that some realestate can be set aside!! (They lurk here anyway!)
Dave B I need to retrieve the fin for it paint job!

… why stop there, bring a Hurricane, Typhoon, Tempest and Sea Fury display, and we could make it Hawker-fest 2008  🙂
The Hunters will certainly make an impressive line-up. I just wish I had one to join in with the fun.

I may be wrong, but there will probably be other A/C cockpits on display as well, so the Sea Hawk (s) are as welcome as they were in years past!
Sorry I meant in the Hunter line up as one is an evolution of the other 🙂

Surely you should throw it open to Sea Hawks as well? 😉 😀

‘Cocdkpitfest’ ??? Is that held in Russia?

If you were only as pretty as she :diablo:
What?! You mean I’m not?
How very dare you!

So, in the words of Princess Leia “Help us Mark T, you’re our only hope”! (Sorry 😮 )

Still, now I have the ‘towing beast’, that’s one less huge hurdle to cross. At least I can get it up to Cocdkpitfest now 😀
Note that Tony has me on the list – lots of work to do, but it gives me a goal to work to eh?

2008 is the 50th anniversary of the 22 Hunter loop at Farnborough. As it’s a record which still stands to this day it’s worth celebrating and as we’ll (hopefully) have an aircraft in attendance which actually took part, it’ll be doubly appropriate.
All being well I’ll be there. My ‘mark’ number is FGA.78 by the way, which means if we’re “lined up in Mk order” then I’ll be somewhere near Lincoln!:D
Edit: By the way Tony, I believe the F.4 you list as “possible NAM resident” has now been sold so may not be available – can anyone confirm? So, in the words of Princess Leia “Help us Mark T, you’re our only hope”! (Sorry 😮 )
