Can anyone throw any light on this particualr Hurricane that now resides with the NAMC in Washington DC.
Is it in fact the former gate guardian of RAF Bridgenorth is Shropshire?

Looks like the Scandanavian Historic Flight aircraft to me.

Helps if I attach the picture.
And of course it won’t attach I’ll try again.

Snapper one similar to the pic you sent me today, I think this is a Swedish owned P51.

LF686, no ops, gate guard at RAF Bridgenorth, then at RAF Colerne by 1965(?), 7270M, at Henlow for ‘Battle of Britain’ film according to Wrecks and Relics 3rd edition, swapped for Hawker Typhoon MN235 and shipped out to NASM BY 1974.
Info gleaned from Wrecks and Relics 3rd edition, Veteran and Vintage Aircraft 2nd and 4th editions, and Warbirds Directory 2nd edition. Surprising how little information there is on the net…
Flood.

Pic comes through fine for me. 🙂 Looks great overall, just wish they’d change that area of camo that follows the line of the access panel on the rear fuselage,it doesn’t look natural.Mustn’t be picky…
IIRC,this was the Hurricane which was swapped 30+ years ago for the Typhoon which now resides at Hendon.LF686 had sat outdoors on gate guard duties for years,so she wasn’t quite in the condition the Smithsonian was hoping for. It’s taken an awful lot of work to get her to the condition she is in now,so the NASM certainly got the thin end of the wedge on that deal!

Ian,
Try posting at a lower resolution. This worked for me last night.

For some reason I’m restricted from posting JPEGs, I’ll try again.
No good I’m afraid the Webmaster has disabled my account for no reason.
