Blimey! A balsa-wood Hurricane…..and its original launching-catapult! 😀
And the concrete railway sleepers are the weights to launch it from the catapult!

The Hurricane has now been transported to Staverton and is parked outside the Flying Shack, Bamfurlong Lane, along with the Meteor F8 and the Javelin. The E28 will hopefully be pulled out for Monday.

It’s this one. http://jetagemuseum.org/Hurricane.aspx
It’s been stored in a grain store for the last 8 years and looks like it’s been there since 1940! Hopefully being recovered back to Staverton in the next few weeks.

Serious question – could this Hurricane possibly be one of the Static Replicas commissioned in 1968 for the film Battle of Britain?
It most certainly could!

I seem to recall that static wooden Hurricane replicas were actually built in WW2 to “populate” decoy airfields (along with impressed Gipsy Moths) to fool enemy photo-recce sorties.
In short: is this Hurricane a 1960s replica – or much older 1940s one?
