Hurricane Crash – Woodham Ferrers 1941?

Does anybody know the identity of a Hawker Hurricane that crashed at Woodham Ferrers, Essex during the early part of 1941?

Unfortunately I don’t have much to go on, not even sure if it was shot-down or lost in an accident, but the pilot was apparently killed.

Whatever aircraft it was it certainly had a Merlin engine and it seems the crash-site was ‘dug’ during the 1980’s.

Any help would be appreciated.
