Hurricane display Honington 8/9/06

I was just wondering if anyone knew the reason for the great display at RAF Honington last friday (8/9) teatime?

i was round my girlfiends house just outside Honington camp about 6 in the evening when a hurricane came over at about 200ft, and then proceeded to do a nice display and beat up over the main camp itself.

i was just wondering it it was a significant anniversary, or just somoene getting lucky and pulling a favour. either way it was a fabulous sight!

p.s. i think it might have been the BBMF hurricane, as it has 4 cannon sticking out of the leading edge.

yup, it was indeed a ‘hairs on the back of your neck’ type of moment.

There was a Battle of Britain cocktail party in the Officers’ Mess that evening. I was standing outside Honington’s training flight building when I heard a familiar noise and it appeared. It was a stunning evening and the only noise that could be heard was a Merlin reverberating around the base. Magnificent!
