Yep, AM274 is now owned by the Vormezeele family in Belgium (Eric and Frederic), who are certainly not new to warbirds in Europe – I’m hoping they follow through with John Norman’s original plans, as it would look superb flying in its original Russian markings (especially with Peter Teichman’s Spitfire Mk.IX flying in the next 3 years, painted in its original Russian markings).

AM274 is in Belgium now apparently. Work to recommence soon, so I’m told

Hurricane & Texan just called for taxi – departing to Lydd so off to Finland they go I guess
Well that’s good news indeed, glad that it was not damaged. It does look good in Finnish markings, I would love to see it in the flesh.

From what I’ve been told it was a heavy landing (“He dropped it in from 20 feet”).

Doesn’t look as if “civil aero” has been on since that post he made. Wonder what’s happened?

I have had dealings with them over the past few years, with no issue whatever.

Bet he has lost money on this one, thought it was going to live in Finland and tour the air shows there?? The guys behind the restoration tried to get some undercarriage legs off our good centre section, they wanted to take them away to their workshops, strip them down to look at the parts before agreeing to the trade, if the legs were no good internally then they would respray them and send them back to us. Yeah right, after swapping the useable bits for duff parts, when I offered for them to do this in our workshop they declined saying that because they could not compress the oleo by hand they would not be useable anyway, if they had tyres I am sure they would have given them a kick as well! What do they expect after 70 years.
