Hurricane Fuel Gauges

I keep seeing ‘so called’ Hurricane fuel gauges for sale on eBay.

There is currently a Replica one , a 45 gallon one ( not Hurricane as claimed) and another with the words ‘Tail on Ground’ under the Gallons Fuel, the latter types seem to come up a lot. I always thought they were from an Anson or something else ? Also I have seen ones with the words Normal Flight/Reserve Tank under the Gallons Fuel. Just wondered if there were two types of Hurricane Gauge or is this just sellers claiming Anson gauges are Hurricane ones.

Any thoughts??

I have the Normal Flight/ Reserve Tank type under ‘Gallons Fuel’ with STARBo / MAIN TANK at the bottom its also marked 19FG I have always believed this is a genuine Hurricane one.

Thanks.

My alluminium Spitfire was also on a rotating table, but took centre stage during the dinner! (The Sqn Ldr setting up the dinner went down into the “tunnels” and found the old “Title Boards”).

I displayed again last night at the 10 Group HQ (RAF Box – Now RAF Rudloe Manor) Officers Mess Dinner (along with other stuff – not least 32 individually signed portraits of the pilots who took part).

The hoop allowed me to fit a Gunsight bracket behind (the hoop) and then attach the Gunsight! I had to sling the Compass hung from a couple of hooks at the front edge of the table, otherwise it would have disappeared right in the middle, and would not be seen).

The Hurricane at right is LK-A (Ian Gleed) as I have a Figaro the Cat painted on a Hurricane piece. It sits on a circular mirror, and slowly rotates.

Thanks Ant.

For the first time since collecting. I have everything together in the panel. Heavy!

Thanks to Ant for giving me the heads up on my missing piece – the boost cut-out. Many thanks.

Unkown Hurricane instrument

Going off track slightly. Is anyone familiar with the switch knob shown on the attached photo which is located between the oil pressure gauge and the fuel gauge.
This photo was taken many years ago from PZ865 which I believe is a MKII.
What was its purpose and whats the part number I need to locate one to fill a hole in my panel.

There is a replica undercarridge indicator front on there from the same guy i think. Just find an old original case to put it in.

Morning Rocketeer.

I’ve been asked to display my Hurricane Instrument panel at the 10 Group HQ, RAF 100 Officers & SNCOs BoB Mess Dinners in Sep (RAF Box is now RAF Rudloe Manor).

I am missing a Boost Cut-Out. Were you able to create a mould?

Thank you sir, in advance!

I guess that was you on Radio 2 the other morning Tony? A chap with 250 control grips and three spitfire cockpits in the lounge, oh and his name was Tony ! There can’t be another !

Some thing else i wondered , do you insure your cockpits? How do you go about putting a value on the Hurricane or Spitfire ones, priceless to you I’m sure. I may have to add to my home insurance as things progress maybe.
