Hurricane G-CBOE flies.

I see from this link that Hurricane G-CBOE has flown and is in temporary Finnish markings for an Airshow there in August, congratulations to everybody involved in her restoration!.

Would be nice if there were enough in this country to put up a squadron of Hurricanes alongside a squadron of Spitfires.

Hi All,

Is there any word on when P2902 might be completed?

Cheers

Just got airborne from Thruxton, heading North, landed after 30 mins & a couple of low passes, how sexy is the purr of a mighty Merlin?

Can you tell him to head East next time please? I live in Andover and seeing this overhead would make my day!

Cheers,
John :eagerness:

Has a Hurricane ever appeared in Invasion stripes? Much as PZ865 looks good in her current colours, with D-Day 70ths it would have been logical…

r;

Other than a Soviet scheme, we’ve been pretty well catered for in terms of a variety of Hurricane schemes. BBMF regularly rotate schemes on theirs, with several Western Desert and SEAC units being represented. We’ve also had Battle of Britain and Battle of France schemes, and Hangar 11’s ‘Hurribomber’ represents a later-war scheme. We’ve also had nightfighters, and PZ865 in her ‘Last of the Many’ scheme. I’d say a Soviet scheme becomes less likely in view of recent political developments, and ultimately an RAF scheme is always likely to attract more airshow bookings.

As much as the racing colours are pretty, I can’t ever see BBMF ever doing that at it has no direct connection with what they are there to represent. It is about as likely as seeing PA474 back in her Cranfield test markings again. And as for the Tomtit, I understand that it was considered (briefly) and rejected during her recent rebuild at Old Warden. There are a few dozen of us who would love to see these quirky schemes again, but, as a past editor of one of the UK magazines once told me, his marketing people insisted on three things for a cover shot: “Roundels, roundels and roundels!”

Interesting to see if AM274 emerges in Soviet colours when completed by her new owner.

For once Malcolm you and I are in complete agreement! I echo your sentiments.
Philip was going to use the Hurri as a commute plane (UK to Finland) when I last spoke to him a year or two back! I live so close – hope to see her in the Finnish markings which are oh so welcome. I, for one, would love to see a Hurri in Soviet markings and PZ865 in her racing /Hawker House colours – maybe to coincide with the anniversary of the Peter Townsend racing times? Reenact the RAeS garden part with the Hind, Tomtit and Glady in same colours?

Lovely to see another Hurricane – I hope, as more airworthy examples appear, we will see not just interesting markings but really fitting tributes to all the places this magnificent aircraft was deployed.

Hi All,
Does anybody think we will ever see a mass gathering of Europe’s airworthy Hurricanes at Duxford like we did years ago for with Spitfire ?

Geoff.
