Hurricane LB 956

I’m trying to find out which squadron this a/c was issued to (that serial number is in a Hurricane batch). Years ago I found a site which identified every Spitfire and its fate if you knew its serial number, but damned if I can find it again, nr anything similar for other a/c
TIA

Maybe this is the Spitfire web site you are looking for?

Chris
Thanks for that, although it isn’t site I found, which told me that the particular Spit in which I was interested K9949 (flown by a near namesake, although not a relative) was involved in a taxying accident, etc
Guys, thanks for all the help

Dunno about the site but the book Spitfire the History by Morgan and Shacklady records that info. Having seen what they’re going for on amazon now I’m more than willing to sell one or both of my copies, fat old ******s that they are – take up loads of shelf space! PM me if you’re interested with best offers (if that’s allowed mods?).

Mike,

According to Air Britain LA100-LZ999

Hawker Hurricane LB956 was sent to ME (Middle East) and SOC 30.04.1945

I can find no mention in The Hawker Hurricane (Francis K Mason) but LB957 was with 34 Sqn.

Sorry I could find nothing else.

regards

Chris
