dark light

Hurricane Mk1 picture.

If anyone can help, I cannot make out the location described on the back, and possibly the squadron involved.
Clearly Geoff is not a pilot.
Kind Regards Mike

NO were 85 Squadron’s prewar codes changing to VY in September 1939. In Jan 1939 85 squadron were based at Debden.

85 Sqn used the code letters NO and they had Hurricanes at the time in question .

Thanks Gentlemen.
I had never heard of RAF Manby, but that would possibly explain his interest in the armament.
As for the 85 sqn connection , clearly I need to study harder .

Kind Regards Mike

RAF Manby?
A visiting fighter to the No1 Air Armament School perhaps?
