Hi All
I need help in identifying a piece of Hurricane, it has HA 298 stamped on it in a circle and A722071 after it, I’m interested to find out from whereabouts on the Hurricane it comes from.
It origintes from Hurricane V7289 that was shot down on 27th sept 1940.
Also are two instruments, the first being a 164 Gallon Tank number 5 fuel gauge, I have been told it is Short Stirling but not sure.
The other gauge I believe to be Fairy Firefly/Fulmar but again not sure!
Please can you help out
Many thanks 🙂

Hi 109
The HA298 stamp is the personal stamp of the inspector who inspected the part for conformance to the drawing/specification.
HA = Hawker Aircraft

hurricane part
Looking at the item in question, it look exactly the same as the panel i recovered froma recent hurricane dig. The item you have i think is for supporting the ram to raise & lower the undercarage or flaps as in the relic i found, this is also stainless

A722071 is a brasing plate that was bolted onto the rear spar where the fuselage tubes bolted to the spar. The forward spar plates had the three holes spaced differently.

The 349FG fuel guage is actually for the Barracuda, and I’m pretty certain the other is for the Stirling. It’s surprising how many of both still turn up.
Can’t help with the Hurricane part, but I’m sure an expert will be along soon!
edit: Just noticed “Tank Drawing S29….” on the face of the No.5 tank gauge, which confirms its purpose.
