Hurricane Prototype – what happened?

I got a gem from the forum today, I learned something new which is surely one of the main reasons to have a forum !

I never knew that K5083 had an uncertain fate – I’ve got the excellent Francis K Mason book open, it relates the use of K5083 in the movie Test Pilot and that it was so unrepresentative of production aircraft at that time it was of little value – it just says it ceased to become the property of Hawkers on May 25th, 1937.

any rumours, myths, legends out there?
