Hurricane R4118 book

Anyone else pick up one of these at the weekend? It’s certainly worth the £20 asking price. It really is very readable even if you have little technical knowledge. Full of colour photos of the rebuilt and all associated problems especially getting it out of India in the first place. Long may we see the aircraft flying and who cares if its non aerobatic. Well done Peter Vacher for attempting the project in the first place and then to cap it all by telling us how he ( and all other parties involved of course) did it.Plus I managed to get it signed by him and Bob Foster.

Are there any other Gransdens having airshows on 28 August? Big Gransden (as opposed to Little Gransden)? Or maybe the Gransden-on-Sea International Air Fete, perhaps?

Mike – just noticed this. I clarrified the location to avoid confusion with Gransden Lodge Gliding Centre which is 1.4 miles NE of Little Gransden. It is very clearly signposted (unlike Little Gransden) and could be confusing to someone unfamiliar with the area.

Just for clarity – we are talking about ‘Little Gransden’.

Mmmm… Battle of Britain veteran Hurricane… sitting on a grass airfield… exactly 65 years after the Battle…

That’ll be “28th August – Gransden” penned in on the kitchen calendar then. 😀

Dunsfold 4 June
Old Warden 5 June

Legends 9/10 July (static only)
Gransden 28 August
Biggin Hill 3/4 September

Hope this helps, Neil. 🙂

I was wondering if she would do Biggin, I hope on her way there she can make a pass over the site of the old Croydon Airport and the memorial, Just like the BBMF do every year, It would be nice to know this lady returned to Croydon after all these years.

Any idea where those of us who were unable to get to Duxford at the weekend can buy a copy. Having watched the restoration reasonably closely I feel this may well be essential reading.
