Hurricane restoration @ Lt Gransden (2007 Thread)

Wow, the possabiltiy of a Hurricane with a fabric wing! Seeing that being built would be special.

The picture of the aerial and the wing spar material on the page below certainly seems to suggest a fabric wing!!!!

This “restoration” was originally planned as a Hurricane prototype replica, complete with 2 blade prop, so would presumably have had a fabric covered wing.

L1639 ??

I have a note that this “is” L1639. Anyone know what the basis for this provenance is? Do they have substantial wreckage and/or data plate or is it just a nominal identity?

Does anyone know if this Hurricane will be restored with a fabric wing? That would sure be somthing.

There is a poster in one of my local shops appealing for help with the project, they are looking for volunteers to work on her. I’ll see if I can get it copied and post it here the next time I’m there.

and weather it is a flyer or not.
