Hurrricane V6868 01/07/1941, civilian award

Can any one help,

This aircraft crashed at Wagtail Farm, Rothbury. Local eyewitness accounts have that the 2nd civilian on scene recieved an award for his actions in trying to save the pilot, R54312 Sgt. Maurice Fieldhouse.

My problem is, that no one can recall his name. There is a possibility he was called ‘Jobson’, he was the care taker in the ‘Isolation (TB) Hospital’ which was in the same field as V6868 crashed.

Can anyone help please.

kind regards

Chris

Icare9,

thanks for replying.
The present owners of wagtail farm are the same family from 1941. I have had several visits to the farm, & have spoken to eyewitnesses of the crash, this missing bit to accident is who? if anyone was subject to a civilian award.

I have three accounts which believe there was but no positive name.
Thank you

Chris

As no one else has stepped forward, a quick Google will turn up details of Wagtail Farm as a B&B. If they don’t know, I’m sure they’ll be interested to help find out so they can include in their brochure!!
