Hello,
Can someone help me identified this Merlin exhaust element,
It looks like very much the kind of exhaust used on Mosquito / Hornet but the fishTail of this element seams to go upward… so may be Lincoln…? or any ideas.
The exhaust is marked “898” & “D21459”.
Thanks,
Best regards,
Olivier

The single exhaust stub would appear to be from number one cylinder on the ‘B’ bank – the port side.
The exhaust as fitted to your engine image, a 500 (?), is different. Note number one cylinder has just a collector.
I seem to remember that the Merlin 68a as fitted to the Lincoln had something similar to this ‘chamber’ collector as per your stub. I would guess it was part of an auxiliary heating system, perhaps for the cabin.

I’m afraid it does match, I’ve got the the first left hand element, the first element in your photo is blind.
Thanks anyway,

For me it looks like an exhaust from an Merlin 500.
