I dont get it?

I tried this on avi8 but as this one seems to have more peeps on it I thought I would try here, Am I just unlucky or do a lot of people on these forums seem to have easy access to or own warbirds, my main question is what do you do for a living, I dont want to know salarys just what it is that can finance an obvious dream of every one on this forum?

I work on them full time, ok the odd spam can does get in the way, but I can’t see me saving enough to buy even part of a warbird, let alone a complete one, salary’s a sore point as Mr YAK 11 fan knows only too well 😉

My involvement with historic aviation is not linked at all with aircraft – rather with veterans of a wartime fighter squadron. All by chance too. This did spring out of an interest in warbird shows at duxford and model building / reading, and a good friend who wis an AA gunner with the Raf Regt during thewar. Since coming on this forum though, and attending the meet ups and so on, I have made (at least I think I have) some friends from diverse backgrounds, and have had many opportunities to have a link more tangible thn that of watching aircraft flying around. There was no plan or thought to any of it – it just kind of happened. It’s a funny old life, but I would say my link to the warbird community (a small link only) is only as a result of this board, and through it I have had some wonderful off-the-cuff opportunities just that bit more special. I’ve seen some behind-the-scenes or more personal views of some great aircraft, and that is something I will always be able to appreciate, and as I say, it was never through pursuing or asking for anything. The people on here are wonderful, and that is what sets us apart from most other boards – it’s a real and actual community of sorts.

Those of us with long lenses on our cameras can often find a way of getting what we want….. and not neccesarily by taking pictures of aircraft with them…
