hi,
i was lucky enough to be at the IHM on 27th April when the 4 stored Skeeters were removed from the container into the museum workshop whilst container was repositioned.I/D,s read off confirmed –
XN345-S2.7070.
XL767-S2.3874.
XM557-S2.7055.
…… -S2.3357.
only c/n for the 4th,enquiry to museum office confirmed these 3 serial numbers nothing for the 4th,but their c/n differed from above, they quoted
XN345-S2.7151.
XL767-S2.5080.
XM557-S2.5112.
and for the 4th serial of i think Aeroventure at Doncaster,s Skeeter XM561,but did say that this one was in doubt,as it matched Aeroventures.
IHM also had 2 booms from XL736 and XM530 so this 4th one could be one of these 2…
The 4 pods plus booms were aquired Saxmundham? and before that Germany.
Now as i,ve retired, trying to sort log,s etc ,and as these Skeeters are in deep storage for years i thought i,d try to nail them,so can i throw out the challenge – help please…
thanks and regards
jack…

Ah Jack…Suspect you fell into the trap of reading off a component serial number rather than the actual aircraft con. no.

A bit of thread drift but my father worked for Saunders Roe at Eastliegh where the prototype Skeeter was made.
As a young lad I used to go with him on saturday mornings to work. On this occasion I was admiring the skeeter prototype when all of a sudden the whole perspex? windscreen shattered. my immediate response was, “I did not touch it!!” Dad said dont worry its been doing that a lot lately!!
