I’ve been looking for a while now and I knew I had them, here they are, the two proposals for the new Japanese Helicopeter Destroyer (DDH-X)
Sorry these are the only pics I have!
**Edit**
As you can see, one is more like a LPH than a DDH, but the other would have greater stealth characteristics.
Glenn, perhaps Maiko could translate the pics for us?

after a search, this is the only pic I could find and it came off a serb military site (go figure)

Unfortunately I don’t have a scanner so I can’t send it anywhere Ja. Sorry.

I’d be very interested in seeing that mate, don’t suppose you could email it to me?

There’s another sketch in the newest edition of Jane’s fighting ships. It looks like your first picture.
That would be because the final design will resemble it. I have a full colour 3D CGI image of the current design in one of my new books from Japan. Compared to the first pic Ja posted there is a change to the Island structure, and the deck shape, but the overall design and function remains the same.

The layout of the second DDH proposal is similar to Australia’s Landing Platform Amphibious class.
That forward facing hanger door must take a lot of punishment in bad weather!

The second pic is the older proposal.
Wasn’t aware that things had advanced further, if you have any info, please share it!
And Maiko is pretty busy in Japan right now
That must be hard on you, long distance relationships take so much work on both ends.
maybe when she gets back here she will have more time to do that, and other stuff too.
Riiiiiight

Ja, I can still read quite a bit of Japanese but the ship spec details in the first pic are not clear enough to translate. I might have the same picture in a book. I will check.
