Just seen the Flying Legends flying list, To be honest I am very underwhelmed by it. Yes there is going to be a P47 razorback flying and a P38. But where the hell has all the P51’s gone and Hurricanes. The Airshow used to be awesome with tons of warbirds flying.

Removal of the French twit to the speakers would be a start.Let him chat away to a microphone but don’t tell him it’s not plugged in 😎

I think you will find that Mr Chabbert was very quick to apologise for his indiscretion.
Another constructive comment, not specifically aimed at TFC is can the PA speakers be moved behind the flight line? I missed on 20+ cracking pics because it’s got a bloody pole through the middle of the photo!
The speaker system is something that has been addressed before and they do seem to be doing something about it with installation of ground speakers along the Tank Bank which is a good move on part of the IWM.

😮 Good grief that’s shocking!
Now I’m prone to a bit of industrial language myself, but to have that broadcast over a PA in front of families isn’t acceptable.

😡 We were thinking about going to the East of England show at Peterborough ,i think the rain has put paid to that idea as well.

The whole summer has been pretty much a washout.
Last weekend was about the best one weather wise we’ve had.
I can’t imagine Fairford has been much fun this weekend (or Silverstone, or Mallory park–Festival of a Thousand Bikes, or The Gravenhurst Gallop–something very close to home). The real shame is how much work–often voluntary, goes into these events, just to see them washed out.

The weather last week was not great. BUT, were it not for the date being brought forward due ‘that’ event, we would have copped it this weekend.

I think we should start a poll what has been the best Legends line up since it started? :p

Just out of interest, where was the T-6 with the D-F*kk registration parked… or had it already departed?

I quite like monsieur Chabbert, but he does go on; they should either cut down on the number of PA speakers so there is a “quiet zone” or have someone with a fader (out side the comentary box)
I think there are worse things than letting out the occassional expletive, considering the amount of words he does get through in an afternoon, I think he does alright! there’s always Jonathon Ross……..

Why not?
However, unless you currently live in the outer Hebrides or share a hut with tribesmen in the Amazonian basin, then I might suggest that it isn’t anything your average teenager hasn’t been exposed to (and worse) in what passes itself as ‘culture’ in the modern World.

I get your point Andy, I use that kind of language on a regular basis, but not in front of the children. My son is 15 and uses the same language with his friends, but wouldn`t swear in front of me. He is at an age where it`s okay on TV, but that is supposed to be after 9pm, for a reason.
My grand daughter is only 6 and I still stick by what I said, it`s inappropriate, and I live anything but a sheltered life.
I`m probably old-fashioned too, but I don`t see that as a bad thing in this instance.

You know chat show hosts regularly resort to all sorts of similar things these days but you dont watch any of them.
….right. I guess someone must have told you.
Well actually I don’t.
The last time I watched a chat show would have been about 1998–it was fronted by a slightly fat balding know all who had once apparently been a lawyer. I can’t at this distance recall his name. Although I did subsequently hear that he was rude to the Bee Gees.
Even then much of what I stated above was the case.
Since then I’ve given up television almost completely.
This week I watched the documentary about RAF Bomber Command. It hasn’t been switched on since.
I made the assumption that things had deteriorated since the nineties.
When the current set dies, it won’t be replaced.
Right, back to ‘Legends’.
I hope those who attended it enjoyed it.

Yes, I wouldn’t be surprised if we did see that–certainly in our lifetime.
Think for a moment how standards in broadcasting have dropped over thirty years. Chat show hosts regularly resort to all sorts of similar things these days. Not that I watch any of them (news shows included–they’re mainly propaganda in my ‘onest) because although you may think you’re old fashioned, you’re probably ‘liberal’ in your views compared to me.

In that case can we expect radio and television newsreaders etc to start using similar language sometime soon? Call me old fashioned, but I sincerely hope not.

As to Legends, I don’t attend as the venue has never been my favourite.
However, some French friends of mine did attend (Saturday) this year (for the first time) and they had a jolly good day out and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
They arrived back at OW on Saturday night, extemely pleased with what they had seen.

“Situation Normal, All Fouled Up”.
What, pray tell, is offensive about that?
I think you’ve missed the point.
If he’d said “All fouled up”, it would have been ok.

Well thanks to the wit of our parents generation, that’s what it means. I tend to agree that it doesn’t need constant iteration though–we all get it.

And, history is history. Why cover history up? Are we THAT touchy these days?
A couple of years ago he was talking about how to land warbirds and he said something like “and then flaps out….wheels nearly touching…and you’re thinking – please don’t let me ******* up”.
Everyone laughed, I laughed and I thought the French guy was great for a few moments. He just went with what he thought and what it’s like.

I didnt appreciate last year the stuff about how the French Air Force thinned out the Luftwaffe during the Battle of France to an extent that we were able to win the Battle of Britain. He was being serious.
Why not?
Sources vary a little, but generally agree that Luftwaffe losses in the battle for France were about 1200 aircraft with about 350 of them being fighters. if you take out the number shot down by the RAF air component, then the Armée de l’Air must have made a significant contribution to that number.
By the start of the Battle of Britain, those numbers had been made good in front line German units, but it seriously depleted reserves, and of course the loss of well trained pre-war aircrew was keenly felt.
So, what he says, does make a valid point. Or is it that this is just another cheap ‘dig’ at the French?
Nor did I appreciate this year, the use of the ‘F’ word over a public address system in reference to the meaning of ‘snafu’.

He’s got to go.
The people who organise and run ‘Flying Legends’ apparently think otherwise.

I quite agree. There is a time and place for that kind of language, and in front of my son and grand daughter isn`t it.
He did it last year too.

Perhaps Flying Legends could take a leaf out of the Goodwoods Revivals book and perhaps introduce some elements that they have or adapt it for themselves?
