I need to book a one-way flight…

Hello all,

I am trying desperately to book a one-way flight from Incheon to any London airport on either 17th or 18th February and am willing to take any route and any airline, just as long as the price is right.

It seems that one-way flights cost more than return flights. By default, airlines seem to offer only fully flexible tickets if you’re travelling one-way, so you pay for the privilege! If booking a return flight is necessary, this is something I will also consider.

I have searched and searched for hours now and I’m not having much luck. The cheapest fare I can find is about 620 pounds with Emirates.

If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated. I’ve so far searched JAL, ANA, Air France, Emirates, Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Thai Airways and Aeroflot. I can’t seem to find a booking engine for Qatar Airways (for flights originating in Korea) and China Eastern.

My dates aren’t really all that flexible and I must travel on either of the two days specified.

Thanks in advance. 🙂

I never book 1 way flights except with Jet2,Czech Airlines and sometime LOT.
Cant see the probem. You are not looking for the cheapest 1 way ticket, just the cheapest ticket.
For example about 4 weeks ago I wanted to fly LBA to Moscow.
My preference KLM.
1 way fare – 1,081GBP, return ticket 261GBP.
So whats the problem? You just buy a return ticket.
Been doing for donkey`s years, as I imagine most people have.

Thanks to everybody who has helped me out with suggestions etc. Nothing is booked yet (I don’t get paid until Friday!), but everything will confirmed by the weekend. I found out that this particular weekend will be a Korean holiday, so I’m expecting the fares to go sky-high pretty quickly.

Be careful with that, I’ve known colleagues and friends who book a return ticket with the intention of only using the ‘return leg’ only to find that the Airline won’t allow them to travel, because they didn’t travel the outbound sector.

Fortunately for me, I’ll be using the outbound flights and not the returns, so I won’t have any problems. I could just accidentally (on purpose) ‘miss’ my return flight. If a name change were possible, I’d happily give the ticket to anybody who wanted it. But I’m guessing this would only be possible on the whole return ticket.

May I ask, why your only booking one-way? (Don’t feel the need to answer if you don’t want).

Simply put, I have no intention of returning to Korea. 😎

I have done this a couple a times.

Needed once a one way ticket from SFO to CDG.

Of course the round trip was way cheaper . i just bought the round trip and just used one leg.

Why not book a cheaper return ticket and only use the UK bound ticket?

So, after a visit to the travel agency today, I’ve decided to book up with KLM again. I thoroughly enjoyed my flights with them over the Christmas and New Year period. A return flight with KLM is 966,000KRW (Korean Won), which is less than 500 pounds. However, I won’t be using the return flights.

The travel agency can get me direct one-way flights with either Korean Air or Asiana for 900,000KRW (cheaper than KLM). I’m not familiar with the Asiana long-haul product, but I know it’s basic, and the Korean Air inflight service leaves a lot to be desired, so I couldn’t be bothered to use them for long-haul travel again.

I will be booking a flight from my local airport to Seoul-Gimpo with Korean Air at a cost of 40GBP.

Thanks for the help, Sam.

The Oasis flight is fantastic value. It’s a shame the Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong couldn’t have been a little cheaper.

I’m going to visit a local travel agent later today and see if they can offer anything better. If not, it looks like I’ll be using Oasis. 🙂

I’ve just been having a look on Expedia and you could go with Cathay Pacific and Oasis for around £430-450…

Incheon – Hong Kong
Depart Incheon 15:15pm and arrive in Hong Kong at 18:10
A330
£291

Hong Kong – Gatwick
Depart Hong Kong 0130am (the 18th) and arrive Gatwick at 0630am
744
£142

Just take a look though 🙂
