I/O Error???

I am trying to move some pictures from one hardrive to another and I keep getting this message.

some pictures are transferring easily, but most are coming up with this message.
Also, the ones that are not being transferred are not showing up as mini pictures in the folder, but just an icon, and will not show if doubleclicked.

Any ideas..?

Getting scared here..as most of my pics are on that harddrive….

Doesn’t sound good to me. Burn on CD / backup all the pictures tou can, then run a scandisk on that drive… If errors are found, but you can get most back, change the disk ASAP.

Good advice, but before you do this, take the lid off your pc (if you can) and make sure that the ribbon cables between the drives and the motherboard are seated properley.

You dont need to remove the cables – just put gentle but firm pressure on the plastic bar at the end of the cable where it joins the motherboard or drive to make sure it is sitting flat across its width.

When you have checked them all – reboot your pc and see if you still get error messages.

My guess is that it is likely to be a physical problem rather than something that software tools can fix – either badly seated cable(s) or the disk heads are on their way out.
