I know mods you may feel this belongs elsewhere or in the Canadian thread but please can we run this for a while here.
Firstly a massive thank you to all concerned with the The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum (CWH) and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) for the massive effort gone into bring the two Lancasters together.
Secondly, for all the effort that has gone on behind the scenes to do the engine refit with all the problems that go with it ie, lack of the correct equipment in place and a spare engine needed to be transported to another airfield.
Thirdly, a huge thank you to all the crews and helpers, many unpaid of all the aircraft we see at the events in our skies here in the UK without whom some aircraft just could not opperate and bring education to those who were not there to see it first time around.
A big thank you from TA, I know what it takes to be that dedicated and you guys n gals have it.

I’m thinking of emailing my MP and asking him to ask the PM to make a statement of thanks to Canada, in Parliament, for assisting in the rembrance of the lost crews of Bomber Command. Do you guys think such a request is silly, or worthwhile?
I dont think it is a silly request at all. It wouldn’t harm the government to make such a public statement.
To add my thanks to the Canadians, it has been a wonderful gesture on their part, I just hope the opportunity arrises again sometime in the future.
If I may add, if anyone from the CWHM is reading this, should there be time, could they please take the chance to fly over the Stonefall cemetery at Harrogate please? It is here that many of those who served and died in the RCAF Bomber squadrons are laid to rest.

Well, at least I tried, but I got the bland, non- committal, politically correct response from one of my MP’s assistants that I expected. I just hope that someone from the CWHM reads this and understands that THOUSANDS of people in the UK are very grateful for them have the determination to achieve this amazing undertaking.

Well at least you’ve had a Summer never to be forgotten!!
I am hoping for my final bite of the cherry at Duxford – if this lovely high pressure system can hang around until then!

True!
Have to agree Dunsfold was pretty special. And now the last time I’ll see them together as the 3 Lanc was cancelled and I have now left UK.

David – surely the contribution you paid for the privilege went a long way to show your gratitude.
Dunsfold encapsulated it for me – being amongst the hundreds happily handing over our readies at the CWHM shop and then amongst the thousands applauding every pass by the two aircraft. A unique experience.

Having got to fly on board their Lancaster, I’m not sure I know how to thank CWHM enough!

Well, I’ve emailed my MP now, so we’ll see what happens (but I think I can guess!)

I for one think it is a great idea, in fact the whole Commonwealth should be thanked.

May be a vote of thanks to the CWHM but the Canadian government had little to do with it. There was talk of sending a RCAF C130 over as escort but it didn’t happen in the end.

I remember it clearly. That moment summed up the whole tour for me and I have it recorded for posterity.:)

Whenever I commentate I always try to remember to ask the audience to show their appreciation for the volunteers before the main show starts as otherwise they either get forgotten, which is just plain wrong, or they get thanked as half the crowd are leaving. At Dunsfold there was a lovely moment.
We invited Keith Graham (I REALLY hope I have remembered this correctly), one of the Canadians who is over to work on merchandising, to answer a few questions. He then stuck around to take some photos from the crowd centre (and who can blame him!)
On the Sunday there crowd was massive. The Lancs came in and as they were positioning for the last pass I said something along the lines of ‘I have already asked you to show your appreciation for the volunteers but I would now like you to show your appreciation of all the Canadian volunteers who have put so much effort into making this happen’. There was a huge response and I dropped the mic and said to Keith, ‘there you go, you can take that back home with you’ and he looked at me and said ‘I don’t think I need to, I think they heard that at home’.
What a nice comment.

It has still been a huge success and a BIG thank you to everyone concerned.

Roborough, as it should be m8, so pleased that Canadian EX-WW2 “Typhoon” Air and groundcrew get a chance to get up close to a real one after all these years.

I would like to give a “Return Thankyou” to all in the UK who ensured that we in Canada have the loan of the magnificent Typhoon. As a volunteer with CASM I get to see it a couple of times a week and it is always a thrill. It has also given me the opportunity to chat with some former Typhoon pilots and their relatives, a real privilege. Thanks again.
Best wishes
Bill

I haven’t managed to catch a display so far but have seen the 2 Lancs together 2 or 3 times at Southend and they made for an impressive sight. I didn’t believe it was ever possible that we would see the pair together and would like to add my thanks, both to everyone who made this possible and also to everyone who contributes in any way to keeping so many vintage aircraft in the air in the UK.

Add my thanks to the list too. I know this has been on the wish list for many, many years and I know the guys have given up a lot to be here.
Thank you one and all.
