I want to see your face

Yes, I know this thread has already been put, but since there are new members coming in, I think it´s useful doing it again. Come on, don´t be shy. Here is my ugly face. Big surprise, if being a greasy dago, any of you would think I was olive oil skin, dark hair and dark eyes. Fair, blue eyes and a British like prawn red coloured skin in the summer.

Thanks for the advice. I don’t really consider myself an expert at computers… but only because I think an expert is someone who knows everyting about a subject… or at least know more than they have left to learn… and as my current problem shows… I am still learning…

My Mouse started acting on its own… jumping around the screen… mostly near the top corners and the pointer menus kept popping up like someone was clicking the right mouse button. So I turned off the machine and used the adapter that came with my mouse and installed it as a serial mouse… that is when the problems started.

Regarding backups I have two harddrive, my original is an 8GB drive and my new one is an 80GB drive. My 8GB drive is backed up on both of my two 40GB patritions of my new drive. If I have to do a complete reinstall I might change my boot drive to my new drive, but that would be quite time consuming as I would have to backup about 40GB of data and reformat and repartition the drive… 40GB would be a bit too big for system files.

The mode it boots into is some sort of diagnostic mode (not safe mode) that does not allow the screen settings to be displayed (either by right clicking on the desktop and clicking on the settings tab or through control panel and clicking on the display icon). Programs like quickres don’t run either.

I think it might be a conflict with my graphics cards and am going to remove and reinstall them. (I am going to buy a new graphics card anyway so it is not that much of a deal…though it would have been better if it hadn’t happened… it is better to happen now than later with the new card… )

I’m gonna reply in a new thread to save cluttering up this one 😉

Garry ,

Are you running win2k (or XP)? There are some known issues with serial mouse drivers with those OS.

Sorry, I changed my mouse from a P/S2 to a serial mouse and my system went stupid… registry errors etc, so currently my video adapter is not working properly so I am working at 640 x 480 and only 16 colours… it isn’t pretty.

I took some photos but can’t load them onto my computer… can’t even load word as it requires 256 or more colours to run.

I think my video card is conflicting with my graphics cards… so I’ll be quiet for a while (stop smiling Vort and Jonesy).

For the record I am 32 (turning 33 this year) and I do hide my weight by being 6 ft 7 in… but that doesn’t hide it from the side…

Did you swap the mouse over while the computer was still running? Thats fatal as you probably found out.

I dunno how computer literate you are so apologies if this is sound a bit patronising. 🙂

Before you start doing any of this please backup important files.

Try running a program called Regedit to clean the registry (you should find this in your Windows directory on your hard drive.

Once thats done check your display settings (Control panel – Display then click on settings). Adjust the sliding bar to adjust resolution (800*600 should do) and change the color depth using the drop down list, select the most colours you can (note that selecting a greater colour range may alter the resoultion again)

Ok, ok… I’m warning you I am not pretty.
…Balding, going grey, a beard, and a large beergut are my best features.

At 115kgs some might even call me a little overweight…

I’ll take a photo tomorrow with some of my toys…

BTW I don’t hate Marley… I just don’t like dogs much.

Garry-I weigh 92kg and Im only 1.72m, which is why you only see my face in my pic as I have an ample belly myself. Graying and balding? I thought you were just out of college, how old are you anyways?
