I was a teenage planespotter…

Here’s a sample from the late 1960s in and around Liverpool. They’ve all been quite sevrely reduced in size, but the image quality doesn’t seem to have suffered too much.
The Mosquito is TA634, brought in to Liverpool as a possible gate guardian but kept in a hangar while someone worked out how to weatherproof her. She was brought back to flying condition about 1968 or 69 as G-AWJV for the forgettable film Mosquito Squadron, and is now at Salisbury Hall. I saw something in one of the mags a while back that she might yet fly again following the demise of RR219 – anyone got an update?
The C-47 was taken at the Battle of Britain display at RAF Ternhill in September 1965.
The Viscount in the snow is G-AMOG in February 69. Now at Cosford.
The Vulcan and Wessexes are Farnborough 1968.
The C-47 would have been taken with an old Wirgin Edixa, supplanted by a Praktica SLR and monstrously heavy 200mm telephone lens from early 68.
More where they came from if anyone’s interested.

Thanks for the positive comments everyone. The Vulcan is most certainly XA903 – see attached pic from the same sequence as t’other one.
Just come in off an evening shift – I’ll sort some more out in the morning.

She was on the main gate, exposed to the elements at some point.

Love the shot of Wessexes departing, typical tail in the air stance.
Funnily enough I was stationed at Shawbury when Ternhill got bombed by the IRA, we spent the first day looking for the protagonists in a red or white van (scared a postie landing in the road behind him!) and then spent the next week keeping the press Jetrangers away from the bomb-site

“More where they came from if anyone’s interested.”

What a daft question!

You can post as many of those kind of images as you like. I’m sure I’m not the only one here who appreciates such nostalgia.

So, in short, more please!
