Glad you had a good time Moggy, I got to the A1 at Huntingdon on the way home from the Midlands and was going to come down, but the weather had been awful, and continued to look that way so I came home instead, next time I shall be there.

Yup,

A really typical Shuttleworth microclimate.

Just didn’t look worth the effort of going, but some chums were already on the road so we went. Going through the gate I really didn’t believe we’d see any flying at all.

Bit mucky to start with, then it tipped it down and we were sat in the car with the wipers going watching them fly.

Then over to the South West you could see the die straight line as the edge of the frontal system passed through. The sky cleared and we had a wonderfully clear evening with some heavily tinted low light coming almost horizontally across the display line onto the aircraft.

Regulars will be pleased to know the Miss P V C Big-Hair did put in her first appearance of the season though her dress was a tad more subdued than usual.

I was there too! Glad I went, looked rather dodgy earlier in the day, didn’t it Moggy? 🙂

For those who weren’t there, weather was good during the flying itself (pretty fab at the end), apart from a shower that briefly halted proceedings soon after 7.

Excellent displays form all concerned, especially Anson, Sptfire, Hurricane, Lysander, Gladiator and Chipmunk (Moggy, I believe the pilot was Peter Cross, who also flew the Hermes Moth), plus good to have a bit of barnstorming with the Tiger Moth, DH60X and two Maggies.

Only the Sopwith Pup and Triplane failed to display (due to the wind) and of course the weather put paid to the visiting participants, but overall yet another enjoyable Shuttleworth show.

Earlier on the light was different

Avro 19 (Anson) Not seen the Shuttleworth one fly before 🙂

Beautiful. A bit different to the rain at Coventry today.:( Still, the Vulcan makes a handy shelter.
