MiG-21 crashes in Haryana, pilot unhurt

ATEHABAD: A MiG-21 of the Indian Air Force crashed in the fields along Haryana-Rajasthan border, about 25 km from here on Friday, a police spokesman said.
The pilot escaped unhurt as he jumped out of the plane before it crashed, he said. The plane crashed near Bambalwas village in Rajasthan, while the pilot who jumped landed in Ram Sara village in Haryana, the spokesman said. Earlier reports with the police, based on eye witness accounts, had said that an IAF helicopter had crashed. IAF officials, who reached the spot, were tightlipped about the cause of the crash while police officials said that it was for the IAF to give out the details. The MiG-21 took off from Sirsa Air Base at noon and crashed about half an hour later.
